Alexander's first photo shoot

My mother in law flew down from Seattle the day after Alex was born. I had him on Tuesday evening and she was here by Wednesday morning. It was so fun to have her and I feel lucky that not only am I married to a photographer but my mother in law has her own photography business and one of her specialties is babies. We decided to do a photo shoot 2 days after he was born. He does have a little yellow complexion due to a little bit of jaundice. Here are some photos that were taken. It's funny because after I posted these I can see how much he has grown in just a month.

These two pictures were not part of the shoot but were taken while my mom was holding him.

Typical Alex pose, he is like his daddy. He loves to
sleep with his arms above his head.

Another pose Alex has does sine he was born.

This is a cute hand one of my
friends at work made for him.

Can't say I look the best but I
did just have a baby.

A try at a family photo. Mykie
does not like to smile but still
turned out pretty cute.
He was born with a full head of hair.

This picture was not part of the
shoot taken as a practice shot
but is one of my favorites.

Alexander is here!

Alexander was born on 1/25/2011 at 9:20pm. He was 6 pounds, 10 ounces and 19 inches long. Contractions started at 2am, went to the hospital at 6am, only 1.5 dilated and 80% effaced. After 3 hours, was sent home to see if labor would progress. Contractions went all day long and increased by nighttime. Around 7pm, contractions were really coming quick and I wanted to push. Steve got me to the hospital as fast as he could. Once at the hospital, contractions were 3 minutes apart. I was 6 centimeters dilated and 100% effaced. Within 20 minutes my water broke and I was at 9 centimeters. Another 2 contractions and I was pushing. Thank goodness it went fast, did not have any medication. Alex was just looking at us as they laid him on my belly, he was so alert. He is the cutest baby I have ever seen. We are thankful for a healthy baby boy who has already added so much happiness to our lives. Here are some pictures from the

The Growing Belly

It is a little weird to post pictures of your belly but it is neat to see how it has grown. I am in the third trimester now and just waiting to get bigger. I am not sure how I am going to function. That is one reason I decided to chop my hair. I have wanted to before I got pregnant but never did. I wish I had more time to take on myself but life is too busy. I figure it is going to get busier as I become a mom, well a working mom at that. I absolutely love it though and I found a good hair salon too.

IT"S A Boy!

We found out on 9/10/10 that we are having a boy. He was very active in the ultrasound, would not stop moving around. He even waved at us in one of the pictures. He did not hold back showing us he was a boy, there is no guessing. I am glad we found out what we were having, it has made it so fun. We celebrated that night by going out to dinner and registering at Babies R Us and Target that weekend. I was on cloud nine. Steve is very excited as well. It was fun to see him look like a baby. All the previous ultrasounds, he was very small and did not look like a baby. We could not be happier. Boys are great and I am so excited to meet him. The due date is still 1/28/2011. Since the ultrasound, I have had more fun than I thought I would shopping for a boy. The pictures are small but this is what Steve put together with the ultrasound pictures.

WERE PREGNANT!!

Steve and I are expecting our first baby together. I am about 17 1/2 weeks and due around 1/28/2011. We feel very lucky for this new addition to our family. After a year of trying by ourselves, we had no success. We ended up doing fertility treatments for about 6 months before we got pregnant. Compared to a lot of people out there who have been struggling to get pregnant for years, a year & 6 months does not sound so bad. It is a very hard thing to go through no matter how long you do it. I think the hardest part was not knowing if it would work. After many pregnancy test came back negative, we finally got a positive. All I could do is stare at it. I kept going back to the bathroom to look at it to make sure it didn't change. I could go into everything I had to do with the treatments but that would be long and boring. It was worth it and I could not be more excited. We find out in two weeks, on 9/10/10, what we are having. I am so excited, I feel like it will never come.
Here's what we have so far for the baby. We were going to buy a new crib but some friends of ours were getting rid of one of their cribs that was given to them. They asked us if we wanted it. It is a great crib and we already have it set up in our room. That is were the baby will sleep until it starts to grow out of it. Our extra bedroom in our house is down stairs. Since we have a master sweet, we have plenty of room. For my birthday, Steve's parents bought me a stroller and a car seat. Steve insisted on having a girl car seat but we will have enough time to take it back to the store if we are having a boy. Looking forward to finding out what we are having so we can do more shopping and register for baby things. Will post some belly pictures soon.

Its that time again

It's time to get out the gardening tools, shovels, and potting soil. Here are a few flowers that are starting to bloom out front. We planted seeds in March and have some really good starts already. We have pumpkin, watermelon, corn, tomato, and peas. We are building a fence in the backyard before we plant them. This way the dogs will not get to our garden like Honey did last year. I love this time of season, I love to plant a garden and watch it grow.
