House Shopping

For those of you who do not already know, Steve and I are planning to purchase our first home. We have been looking for about 2 weeks now. I think we have looked at about 13 to 14 houses. We are a little hurried because we just gave our notice for our apartments this weekend. We had to give them 60 days which we both thought was ridiculous. Usually apartments only require a 30 day notice but not ours. Well, after looking at about six houses this last Saturday, we found one we put an offer on tonight! I felt a little overwhelmed with everything that is involved and just purchasing a house is one of the biggest investment you make in life, just little stressful. I have never wrote a check for 2,000 before yesterday, earnest money. Good thing I have a husband that does not worry as much as I do. In these types of situations it is really helpful for me because I can be a big worry wort. We will know by Friday at noon if the bank accepted our offer. If they don't and we do not want to go through with it then it is back to house shopping on Saturday. I feel pretty good that we have a good chance of them accepting our offer. The property is in foreclosure so the bank owns the property. We have looked at some pretty crummy places during our short search but this is by far the best place we have found. We thought we could live in a place and fix it up. As we started to look at houses and how much it would cost we realized real quick that was not in the cards for us. This house is in such good shape that we really would not have to do a lot besides some paint and cleaning the carpets in order to move in. One downside to buying a foreclosure is sometimes the people take there appliances with them. I will attach the email address of the property but as you can see there is not an oven or a fridge. All things considered, we are very excited. We are crossing our fingers! It is very nerve racking waiting. We offered them a little below there asking price and they pay the closing cost. Hopefully it goes through. The pictures really aren't that great but here is the website: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/9696-Franklin-St_Thornton_CO_80229_1106736596

Snowboarding in Vail

I realized I am not very good at the blog thing because I can't seem to post very often but I thought I would update on what has been happening in my life. Krista came to visit me in January, Martin Luther King Holiday. She wanted to experience snowboarding in the Colorado mountain's. We decided to go to Vail. It was absolutely beautiful! The weekend was perfect because the roads were dry. We did hit some traffic on the way up to the mountain but we figured that was all part of the experience. We had a good time, even though I fell a lot. I was only able to go down the hill twice because the mountain was so big. Krista was able to go down three times. I have realized that might be the last time I go snowboard because I seem to go every other year and each time I go snowboarding I am a beginner again and beat myself up. I am just not able to go enough to get good at it. Well, see I might go next year if Steve is able to get off blood thinners.
Anyways, here are some pictures of our adventures. For some reason I was not able to upload anymore of the pictures I wanted to.
